How to Generate Leads for Your Online Business

Filed under: General — admin @ 9:20 am

Generating leads for your online business is one of the hardest tasks the home based business owner faces. There is so much information on the Internet about advertising the business owner can spend hours trying to decide the best method to spend their advertising dollar.

The choices are many:

Ezines - online magazines

Article - various article submission sites

Forums - gathering site for conversation and product opportunity promotion

Banners - post your banner on advertisers websites, blogs, forums

Classifieds - post your ad on websites, online papers, business forums

Paper Advertising - newspapers, magazines, flyers

Social Media Sites - promote your business on MySpace, FaceBook and others

Pay Per Click - Google, Yahoo, MSN, Adbrite

Search Engine Optimization - improving the quality of keywords on your site for higher rankings that draw traffic

Video - YouTube, Yahoo, Google, Tubemogul, Metacafe, ect….

Lead suppliers - purchase emails from lead brokers

Craigslist, Ebay……and the list goes on….

So how do you know which is best? Are the free sites good? How much should you pay? How much time should you spend on this aspect of the business? These are the biggest challenges for the small home business owner.

If you have the budget it’s good to diversify and spread your advertising dollar around. Try placing some higher priced banner advertising on key websites and blogs, combined with free advertising in classifieds and social media. Posting articles is a great way to advertise your business and build an online presence. Create your own social networking group to discuss and share your knowledge with others in your field. The key is diligence; posting daily is best.

However, caution is warranted here. Remember to abide by the rules in the area of advertising. In some categories you are not allowed to blatantly advertise your business. Most social media sites will not allow you to advertise “the business.” Some article submission sites do not allow for links in the article. You can over come many of these objections by adding links to your bio or signature. Playing by the rules here is important if you don’t want to be asked to leave and never come back.

For most business owners the operative word is fast. They need to create traffic quickly and they need lots of it. Pay per click advertising is a great way to generate fast traffic to your site. However if you’re not sure what your doing in this area you can spend your whole years advertising budget in a real hurry. If you don’t mind being on camera video is a great way to promote your business. All sites allow you to promote your business and display links within the video. You will be pleasantly surprised at how one creative video can produce tons of traffic for your site.

The key is to focus in whichever area you choose, post frequently for exposure and work on your advertising daily. Don’t expect yourself to be an expert in all these areas. If you want assistance there are many sites like Elance.com and Guru.com with professional staff to help.

Attracting the Search Engines

Filed under: General — admin @ 1:15 am

It is widely thought that the major search engines change their search algorithms often. They do this because they know that people are always looking for ways to beat the system. By making frequent changes, they try to stay ahead of the game. If they never changed the way they index sites, every site would be perfectly optimized and all sites would be tied for the number 1 position. This would make the search engines useless. Therefore, if they want to stay in business, they have to make frequent changes.

Links are very important to the search engines. In addition, the quality of those links is also very important. A link from a very large authority site is seen as more valuable than a link to Aunt Jill’s recipe site that gets no traffic.

Writing articles can be a significant factor in attracting the search engines to your site. Make sure your article is optimized and is written on a subject that is getting many searches. Optimize your article by using primary keywords (that are being searched for often) in your title. In addition, include those keywords three or four times in your article and you will have much more success in attracting the major search engines.

Using these techniques, I have had a number of articles that were listed in 8 of the top ten spots in Google. This is because the article was optimized using good keywords in the title and also in the article.

Another method works well in attracting the search engines. Write interesting and informative articles. Good articles get more page views and are more likely to be published in ezines and larger authority sites. This is your primary objective if you are interested in attracting the search engines. By getting your article (and the links in your resource box) posted on larger sites, you obtain high quality links and the search engines will reward your site with a higher rating.

By writing optimized articles on a consist basis, the search engines will reward your site a little more each time. And before you know it, your site has become an authority site that others are trying to link with.

Internet Audio Advertising (Pey Per Play) Offers All Website Owners a Piece of the Advertising Pie

Filed under: General — admin @ 5:12 pm

Underway as of February 1, 2008, Internet audio advertising is set to change the game in advertising on the net. It allows all website owners - both big and small - to earn income from every single visitor to their websites. The advertiser network has already signed on many big names such as Taco Bell, Burger King, HBO & Harley-Davidson.

The developer of this innovative Internet audio advertising model predicts that it could eventually exceed radio, television and newspapers - combined! More than 65,000 advertisers have already signed on. These advertisers have agreed to pay a fee each time a website visitor hears a 5 second audio clip that is played the moment the website is visited.

There is no charge for website owners to join the network and they earn 25% of the total agency fee collected. While there is a review process, nearly every website is accepted, with the exceptions of websites dealing in pornography, violence, and a few other taboo subjects. Other than that, whether the website is large or small, heavily visited or not, it will most likely be approved for inclusion into the network..

The website owner simply inserts a snippet of code to make the whole thing work. Ads can be targeted to many different demographics and should average approximately $14 per 1,000 plays. With 97% of all computers equipped with audio, pay per play ads can easily heard by millions daily. Approximately 15 million websites are running the ads and more are signing on everyday. There is no charge to acquire the code and the website visitor has no forms to complete, nothing to buy; as a matter of fact, there is no action required on the part of a visitor whatsoever other than simply visiting the website!

The company is also accepting promoters for the service. Promoters receive a 10% commission for every website they bring into the network.

One of the more interesting features of this new model is that visitors are not required to leave the website in order for the website owner to get paid. It also works directly in conjunction with another very popular form of website advertising - Google’s Adwords. We fully expect its popularity to approach the search engine giant’s proprietary ad model.

Managing Your Communication Budgets With Prepaid Calling Cards

Filed under: General — admin @ 5:14 pm

With the advances in technology making the world a much smaller place, communication tools like prepaid calling cards offer consumers lower costs and ease of use in making long distance calls anywhere, and are great to have in handy, in case of emergencies.

These prepaid communication cards also have many plus factors over the standard telephone services, and you also would be glad to get the same rates or services at anytime of the day or the week.

Phone Cards Offer Convenience And Affordability

Managing your budgets can also be much easier and more fun with these communication devices. These tools allow you to budget how much you spend on your long distance calling. Instead of paying monthly bills for calls upfront, you only pay for the calls you make, and some cards even offer discounted rates to certain cities, countries, or time zones.

You’re always sure never to wind up with getting bills that are really burdensome. Prepaid phone cards are sold at a wide variety of stores and locations, like gas stations, post offices groceries, hotel lobbies, bus and train stations and airports. You can also purchase these items over the Worldwide Web, where you can also compare different call cards and their rates to get the best deals available.

In using these cards, you simply dial a toll free number, type in your personal identification number (PIN), and dial the number. Generally, consumers will be informed of how much time they have remaining on the card. In addition to the other conveniences mentioned earlier, you’ll never have to look for change when you need to use a payphone and you always know exactly what your charges will be.

What To Consider Before Buying One

When you plan to purchase a specific prepaid phone card, ensure that you are aware of the total per-minute charges and read the fine print on the card, to see if there are any other fees or charges associated with the card. Be wary of some providers that offer an unusually low cost per minute, as these most often have other charges that will increase your overall costs for calling domestic or overseas.

Before you buy the card, read the details on the back of the card, or on the corresponding poster in the stores. If you see signs or word like “Connection Fee”, “Rates subject to change without notice” or “Rates are only valid for calling select areas”, think twice before buying these items, as you’ll be expecting to pay more than the advertised toll charges.

If you’re buying these cards online, find out more about their rates and services through many online reviews and consumer referrals. If you don’t want to risk your money by finding out for yourself if the prepaid phone card you bought gives you the best value for money, you can also ask people who have used it before, as they would be able to give you an honest assessment of how the cards worked, and if they were satisfied with the service rendered.

Search Engine Optimization

Filed under: General — admin @ 9:08 am

Search Engine Optimization is a skill that most business owners are finding that they need to understand the fundamentals of. The business world has changed and many clients now reach for their computer when they want a product or service rather that the traditional Yellow Pages or other similar offline directories.

Even if business owners can still generate a lot of business from offline advertising they are still finding it necessary to secure their business a good position within the various search engines with the main ones being Google, Yahoo! and MSN.

A good working knowledge can be gained through training and education which can be both virtual or class room based. It is better to have at least the fundamentals mastered even if you decide to seek expert help in making sure your business does well in the search engines. It is vital that you ensure the web design and seo professional you use is actually qualified and capable of optimizing your business effectively. There are many web designers out there who claim to have an expertise in this field but actually are not as qualified as they would have you believe.

The key areas to concentrate on are keyword research, competitor analysis, final keywords, meta tags, pay per click, linking and web design. Search engine optimisation once you have the above working knowledge in place becomes considerably easier. You will also find it much better when you web designer starts asking you key questions about you business and how best to identify keywords.

Google Cash Review - Learn How To Make Money With AdWords

Filed under: General — admin @ 9:50 pm

Google Cash is an ebook written by extremely successful Internet Marketer and AdWords Expert - Chris Carpenter, who uses this method to earn thousands of dollars per month with AdWords, and he’s been doing this for years.

This ebook describes how you can use Google AdWords and affiliate networks, such as Clickbank or Commission Junction to make money online. It also covers the Google AdWords system.

In Google Cash ebook, Chris also shows some of his profitable campaigns, how he located golden keywords, how he creates affiliate links, write Google advertisements and how he tracks his results.

Chris goes very detailed about how to get your affiliate business started, how to find and choose profitable affiliate programs, how to join them, get the affiliate links and how to develop a list of keywords, which will help you to promote the product and target the customers who want to buy your product.

There are lots of useful tips in Google Cash ebook, and it would a perfect guide for those who are just starting AdWords and affiliate business. For people, who are already advertising on AdWords, and are advanced users, you can skip the first chapters of the ebook, because those are the basics of online business.

I really enjoyed the section about writing ads, that get clicked very often. Chris explains how to write attractive and profitable ads, and also he refers to Google AdWords Guidelines, so he makes sure, that your ads won’t get disapproved.

The problem with AdWords is that if you have chosen the wrong keywords, then your campaign will never be profitable, that’s why I recommend reading Google Cash, so you know how to create a campaign, which will make you money.

Chris will explain how to create a campaign from a scratch. Everything is included: keyword research, how to write ads, how to target customers, and much more. You will also find great techniques on how to maximize profits of your campaign and decrease the spendings.

At the end of his ebook, Chris recommends to read Perry Marshall’s Guide To AdWords. Perry Marshall is one of those AdWords gurus, who knows pretty much everything about AdWords. However, I wouldn’t buy Perry Marshall’s Guide, because it’s actually outdated material, but Google Cash is up-to-date ebook and the methods will definitely work.

My advice to you is that you should get Google Cash ebook, if you want to know how to make money thousands per month with AdWords. I would recommend this ebook for anyone, because even experienced advertisers will find a lot of important stuff in it. I hope you will make a correct decision.

Why Google Will Slowly Become Its Own Internet

Filed under: General — admin @ 3:45 pm

I know this may seem a little crazy, however it is looking more and more like Google will one day dominate the internet in a way that it will almost be the internet. They are slowly creeping into every possible market, and now even creeping into the internet backbone market. Here are a few reasons why I feel Google will almost own the entire net eventually:

#1 - Google Knol. Googles new Knol project which will, in a way, take on Wikipedia, shows us that they are stepping into the roles of those sites which people goto the most. Wikipedia, by far, is the number one site people click on at Google when searching. Google knows this, so figures, why not keep this traffic on our servers, generating ad dollars for ourselves, thus created Knol.

#2 - Google Cell Phone. Google knows that the market is trending more towards smart phones with internet access, instead of stand alone PCs, so what do they do? They come out with their very own cell phone operating system known as Android. Not only this but they plan on actually bidding on the old UHF spectrum which will allow them to own the airwaves and become their own cell phone provider. This would be huge since it would basically capture a large deal of the approximately 2 billion cell phone users in the world.

#3 - Google buying up servers and fiber optic lines. They are planning something big, whether in a month or 5 years they will own a major part pf the internet infrastructure in the United States. Maybe they will rename the “World Wide Web” the “Google Wide Web”.

Is this a good or a bad thing? Well its tough to say, because we are talking years into the future, however if Google keeps their current model in place, of allowing free markets to determine basically everything they are involved in, then it probably will be a good thing. After they take over much of the internet whats next? Health care, biomedical operations, genome studies? Who knows. One thing is for sure, Google has access to information, and in the new world of technology, that is worth more then anything else. They can predict which products will be hits, which websites will grow, and most importantly, where to move their interest to next.

Using Google Alerts to Help Your Business

Filed under: General — admin @ 9:40 am

At times it seems that Google releases more new products and services than we can keep track of. From Google Calendar and Google Video, to Google Base, Google Finance, and Google Trends, it can be overwhelming just to remember what each one does. One of the oft overlooked hidden gems in Google’s enormous offering is Google Alerts. Within minutes, one can be signed up for email alerts that can give them and their business a leg up on the competition. Alerts can be used to spy on competitors, keep track of what people are saying about your business, or follow an important news story.

How Does It Work

Google Alerts sends you an email each time a new page for your chosen term makes it in the top twenty results on Google’s web search. You can also have the alert check Google News and/or Google Groups. To sign up for a Google Alert, all that you need to do is visit the Google Alerts homepage (http://www.google.com/alerts), enter the search term, type of alert (search Google News, Google Groups, or the web), frequency of emails (daily, as it happens, or weekly), and your email address. You can set up alerts for as many terms as you like using a Google Account. So why would you want an unlimited amount of alerts? Because as a business owner, you have a lot to keep track of and very limited time to do it.

Spy on Your Competitors

Every business has a competitor. More likely, you have several direct competitors and several more indirect competitors. While regularly checking out their websites is an important part of the process, it doesn’t paint the whole picture. A competitor??s website is very much crafted to the image that they want to portray to their customers. This is great if you want to know what their latest sale is or how much their new product costs, but it isn’t likely to feature a negative review in last Sunday’s newspaper.

That’s where Google Alerts comes in. By simply setting up a News, Groups, and search alert for each of your competitors, you will know what other people are saying about your competition ?” both the media and consumers, both good and bad.

Keep Up To Date on Your Industry

Equally as important as what people are saying about your competition is what people are saying about your industry in general. If there’s a negative PR swing against violent video games, and you just happen to run a video game store, you will probably be affected. By receiving alerts on important key words related to your industry, you can be on top of any sudden changes and react accordingly. By the time your competition realizes what’s happening they will be scrambling to catch up to you.

Track Yourself and Your Business

It goes without saying, if it’s important to know what people are saying about your competitors and about your industry, it would stand to reason that it’s important to know what people are saying about you. I have Google Alerts on both my name and my businesses name. I know that they go hand in hand ?” if one is getting slandered you better bet it will hurt the other. By receiving alerts, you can be on top of anything negative relating to you or your business, and hopefully nip any problem in the bud before it grows too large. On the flip side, there’s nothing better than receiving an alert where someone praises your business. Those are the types of things that you want to make sure are on the PR page of your businesses website.

Get News Stories for Your Site or Blog

I own a site where I do weekly news updates about what’s going on in the industry. Some weeks, there are tons of news items to choose from, other weeks it’s hard to find anything. In addition to the regular industry news sites that I check to get information, I have Google Alerts set up for each of the key terms. You’d be surprised how frequently a unique story from a local newspaper pops up in Google News. Many times these stories haven’t been seen by my competitors and I am able to ??break? the news to the online community. This works well for blogs too ?” if you have a daily blog about being an entrepreneur, having an alert for the word ??entrepreneur? can fetch you several quality stories each day to help inspire fresh posts.

In this increasingly competitive business world, you need each and every leg up on your competition that you can get. Used properly, Google Alerts can be an extremely efficient way to track what’s going on across the web. The alternative would be to search each term every day for new updates. Who has time for that? Spending less time researching enables you to spend more time on the things important to your business.
